By being proactive and performing routine maintenance one can prevent the ever so damaging “down time” on a piece of equipment (and we know it does not happen on Monday morning). At this time we would like to focus on the preventative maintenance of one’s mixer.

The following recommendations have been provided by Jim Smith, Branch Manager of the Hobart Service office in East Granby, CT.

Jim recommends:

Hobart mixers should have a preventative maintenance (PM) performed on them every six months to a year depending on the amount of usage.

    • At that time the oil in the transmission and the planetary should be changed.
    • The slides for the bowl guards should be greased, and bowl to beater clearance should be checked. This is important so you do not put to much stress on the attachments causing them to break.
    • All the wiring in the machine should be inspected for cuts or worn connections.
    • The last part of a PM should be going over the mixer capacity chart with the customer so they are loading the mixer with the correct amount off product.

If these procedures are followed the mixer will last for many years with very little problems.

One can schedule a PM by contacting Kittredge Equipment Company at 1-800-423-7082 or by contacting Hobart service direct at 1-888-4HOBART.

We would like to thank Jim Smith for his time in assisting with this Service Corner.
